Sierra Harvest works to build out a regional and sustainable food system across the Sierra Foothills. Working within our three pillars, Education, Production, and Access, we deliver programming and services to ensure that everyone can enjoy “real food, grown locally, and shared equally.”
Education

Our Fractional Garden Educators deliver nutrition education to K-12 students across Western Nevada County. Through hands-on experiential learning, students are provided first-hand experiences growing, eating, and raising food while simultaneously learning STEM learning objectives.

Food Love Farm is an educational farm that provides an annual summer camp as well as after-school programming. We also offer field trips and private group events at the farm.

Sierra Harvest is in partnership with the Nevada Joint Union High School District CTE program to provide support for the District Ranch. The Ranch provides internships for high school students as well as on-site courses in crop management, water management, animal care and more.

Sierra Harvest offers private consulting on edible gardens, homesteads, and small production farms tailored to the Sierra Foothill region.
Production

Through our Farm Institute, Sierra Harvest offers a range of technical classes and support services for production-scale farmers and ranchers. Programs like Farm Biz, Peer Mentorship, and Ag Skills provide our regional professional food producers with wraparound services.

Sierra Harvest provides a “one-stop shop” for farmers with infrastructure support. Farmers can join our Farm Service Hub and instantly access land, cold storage, shelf space, and more.

Forever Farms is a collaborative program designed to permanently secure ag land across the Sierra Foothills. By partnering with Bear Yuba Land Trust, BriarPatch Food Co-op, and Mountain Bounty Farm, we are able to activate a network of land conservationists to protect working lands.

Sierra Harvest serves as the backbone organization for the Sierra Nevada Farmer Cooperative, a joint effort to bring together small farmers and provide access to resources typically reserved for larger operations.
Access

Gold Country Gleaners is the largest food recovery effort in the Sierra Foothills. Working with farmers and gardeners across the counties, we send out a team of volunteers to harvest food and deliver it to the nearest food bank or pantry.
